Re introducing one of the most unique teas from old tree wild tea forest in Manipur, the Wild Litsea Ancient Green Tea! After being out of stock for almost two years after the initial launch, we are excited to finally offer it again. With two years worth of refinements, we are sure this will live beyond the initial hype! The refinements we have made in our steamed green tea processing blend perfectly with the litsea cubeba/maychang aroma. For scenting the tea, we use the same process used for scenting Chinese Jasmine Green Tea, that is covering tea with the fruits overnight and repeating that for 3-4 days till the desired aroma has been absorbed. Each and every fruit is removed during the sorting, making sure you are infusing only the purest wild green tea!
The liquor is a blend of all kinds of citrusy notes, with the litsea providing most of it. The litsea fruit provides a fresh fruity note, resembling sweet lime. The green tea provides some more fruity character to it, with notes of both ripe and raw mangoes. The overall taste stays on the citrusy side with some lemongrass notes as well. The profile stays the same throughout the infusions and lasts for 8-10 infusions easily. The leaf, coming from old wild trees have a balanced astringency in this batch which is never overwhelming. That adds a sweet aftertaste to the liquor, similar to the one you get after eating Indian gooseberry. Overall, it is an incredibly refreshing green tea and a must try for its unique character.
