Introducing the third tea in our "candy" collection, the Nilgiri Candy Black Tea. This one is from Coonoor and was harvested in the first week of March. This grows at an altitude of 6000 feet and has thick hairy buds, very different from any other black tea from this place. Although we were done with sourcing teas from Coonoor region, we could not resist buying this, especially because of the caramel candy note!
The dry leaf smells like honey. When placed on heated ware, you get notes of caramel and vanilla. These notes translate nicely into the liquor, making it taste like a fine dessert. You first notice the delicate creamy note, resembling whipped cream the most. You are then greeted by the vanilla wafer and caramel candy notes. There is a hint of saffron in the background, a note it shares with our Nilgiri Highland Gold. As you sip further, there are hints of rose with the signature minty note, present in almost all Nilgiri teas except the green teas. When the liquor cools down, you notice fruity notes of pear and guava. It is one of our favourite black teas from the current season and we hope you will enjoy starting you day with this tea as much as us!
