The long long wait is finally over, introducing Assam Orthodox Gold once again! A fine black tea worth this long wait! After non stop sourcing teas from lesser known regions, we had to get this back in stock as soon as possible. But we had to wait till we found the perfect batch! Made by one of the most passionate tea makers in the region, Mr. Maddhurjya Gogoi, we look forward to sharing more teas made by him in the coming seasons!
The dry leaf has a strong malty aroma with the sweetness of jaggery. When placed on heated ware, there is a hint of chocolate along with the malty note. The liquor oozes this sweetness when you pour into your pitcher or the cup. The first infusion has notes of mango fruit leather and palm jaggery, without any astringency, allowing you to enjoy the bold flavours even better. The second infusion introduces notes of oranges and malt, with the jaggery still being present on the finish. The third infusion has notes of milk chocolate, oranges and orange peel. The fourth has an interesting dried dates note, again with oranges and jaggery on the finish. Later infusions are also similar, with these notes making an appearance in different orders. The tea keeps on going for a long session and never feels watery. One of the most interesting things about this tea is the lack of harshness, making for a very enjoyable cup at all kinds of ratios and temperatures. A true example of a finely crafted Assam black tea, we are sure you will enjoy this a lot!
